Time to show off cards you have of the recently reinstated MLB players from the ineligible list.

Eddie Cicotte
Happy Felsch
Chick Gandil
Joe Jackson
Fred McMullin
Swede Risberg
Buck Weaver
Lefty Williams
Joe Gedeon
Gene Paulette
Benny Kauff
Lee Magee
Phil Douglas
Cozy Dolan
Jimmy O’Connell
William Cox (executive)
Pete Rose

I recognize all but Gene Paulette and William Cox (executive) from the list.

To start things off badly, here is a lumped together T202 bits and pieces card featuring Eddie Cicotte and Joe Jackson, with a tag along Non-Reinstated Hal Chase for bad boy measure.

Dang if that is not another thread. Here's a M101-4 of Lee Magee (who, incidentally is not eligible for Hall of Fame consideration, as he only played 9 years in MLB).

On a hobby note, this card, despite being rather trimmed, can still be identified as from the M101-4 grouping of sets. Yes, it is missing the card # (108 in M101-4, 106 in M101-4), the player position (L.F in M101-4, 2nd B. in M101-5), and the team/league designation (New York Am. in M101-4, New York Americans in M101-5).

How do you tell then? Cards with Sporting News backs were only produced with the aforementioned M101-4 characteristics. I could have just said that. Instead, consider yourself schooled.

Never seen that nice Cicotte card Paul. Which E121 related issue is it from?

Technically this image is from before he threw the Series game but I always equate it with the scandal.

I've always enjoyed the CJ image for Cicotte. The smile, the Sox uniform - perfect.

On Aug. 16, 1922, Baseball Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis charged Douglas with writing a letter to an opposing player (Les Mann of the St. Louis Cardinals) offering to desert the Giants, the team Douglas was pitching for, in order to hurt the team’s pennant chances, which Douglas did not deny.

If interested in Phil's story beyond the above passage that was paraphrased from the Hall of Fame website page, check out below:

https://baseballhall.org/discover/go...stellar-career

I show both the E120 American Caramel of 'Shufflin' and his W573 Type 2 strip card (blank backed, and the Type 2 versions have a similar but lighter green tint on front as seen on his E120, unlike the W573 Type 1 and 3, which are just plain black and white).

I am showcasing two Phil Douglas cards because I was mistakenly thinking his nickname was 'Whammy', but that was actually the nickname for William Douglas, a pitcher in the 1950's.

So my efforts to pull a double 'Whammy' on you all was doomed from the start. I guess instead I'll just be 'Shufflin' along with noggin bob-bobbin' down low with each step I take away from this post.

Brian (Phil is another player just shy of the 10 year MLB career required for Hall of Fame consideration)

Here's where the CJ image came from...plus it's got Weaver in it too.

Brian, sorry for the delay. It's a Holsum Bread card. The front differs from the E135 because it lacks the card number.

Paul

And the font and spacing of the letters on the bottom border make it look just like an E121 card. My type card of Holsum has the same image of the player as seen in the E121 set. Cicotte is not included in the E121 sets, so that makes your Holsum Cicotte even more special, at least in my eyes.
