Minnie minoso vintage photo assist
4 Attachment(s)
I would like to reach out and get some thoughts regarding the 2 pictures attached. I recently acquired several vintage photos of Minnie and the others I can easily determine the date, type, etc. These 2 have me a little stuck.
The first is a 7x10 photo of Minnie holding a bat with 4 other gentlemen and a lady. The picture was taken at the Havana airport because you can see the sign in the background. There are no markings on the back. My best guess it was when Minnie played for the New York Cubans in middle-late forties. Also I'm guessing the others are players for the Cubans also. Maybe an expert in the Negro Leagues can identify the players. The second is an 8x10 vintage albumen print that pictures Minnie wearing a t shirt in catcher's gear. It is also date stamped and marked on reverse as Dec 15, 1957, but I don't think that is actual date of the photo, but a much earlier photo. I'm guessing it is from a Cuban newspaper as it is also stamped deportes. I just can't imagine Minnie wearing catcher's gear and playing in a t-shirt in 1957, after he was established star in MLB. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |
Minnie played many years past his start in the majors for Marianao. I also have a photo of him in catchers gear from 1957. He has his mask off and he's much older. He's also wearing a 1950s version of the Marianao jersey.

Thanks Wade, now I do believe the catcher's photo is from 1957.
Any insight on the Havan photo? |

I'll DM you a photo of my photo of Miņoso in catchers gear. Looks like we might have ones from the same agency taken in sequence. Sent from my SM-S721U1 using Tapatalk |
