E98: the road to 120
I just crossed the halfway mark so I thought of share my collection so far. I KNOW I still have the Big 12 left, so the 2nd half will be considerably harder to acquire than the first, but that's perfectly fine. I'm having a blast chipping away at this beautiful set!
As you can see I've (mostly) avoided the high-end BSF cards. Initially I wanted to get as many as I could, being a Toledo native, but honestly they just don't look right with the rest of the set IMO, they almost look like reprints, and avoiding them frees up a lot of funds for other cards. Anyway here's the first 60! I'll update this thread as I continue my quest. https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/bend_bres.jpghttps://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/brid_brow.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/chan_chas2.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/clar_cobb.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/coll_coom2.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/dahl_davi2.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/dooi_ever.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/ford_jenn2.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/klin_lajo.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/mack_math.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/mcgr_mcle.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/meye_mull.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/tenn_tink.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/vaug_wagn.jpg https://www.heavy45s.com/e98s/wals_youn.jpg |

You're well on your way towards the end goal. Congratulations on the progress so far and looking forward to future updates!

A very well assimilated grouping so far. Good luck in the hunt! To me, and some others, that is the way caramel cards should look.

Love threads like this, which are about collecting prewar baseball cards. Congrats on a great group!

Keep the E98's coming!
For fun, I tallied up Andy's current totals for each color. I am somewhat surprised how close the color count is between all the colors, as I thought a color might be more prevalent, and perhaps another lagging behind. No colors for this in mind, just an overall thought. Anywho, here are those totals: Blue - 15 Green - 17 Orange - 18 Red - 14 I assume from the start you have just acquired what you have been able to snag, with no color preference guiding your purchases? It appears that 3 of the last 4 additions have been red, so I guess red was indeed lagging behind at the halfway point. Brian |
Ironically the reds (in general) are probably the most readily available, because they were part of the Black Swamp Find, but because of that they're usually high grade and therefore high price. So I find myself waiting for low-grade examples, which is probably why the reds are lagging behind the other colors.
