Anyone going to Fanatics Fest?

I was thinking about going to Fanatics Fest, but admission for a day is almost $70 including online ticket fees which is a lot just to get in and hope there's any dealers with cards I'd be interested in. Is anyone planning on going?

No. :)

Easy pass for me.

Not this year....but I bought my grandson to a national and he enjoyed it. So maybe in a year or 2 if a couple players are signing or talking he likes I would go.

For those not fully tuned it, it's a "festival"-like event.

Along with the usual expected stuff like paid autograph/photo sessions, there's a mix of multi-stage performances, events, contests, and presentations going on all day.

The star power is rather big. Along with sports personalities there's "Youtube/Twitch/etc" stars and other media/music figures.

There's also a lot of corporate whoring at the booths rather than people selling cards, though there are dealer tables.

It's 80% rock concert atmophere + famous people doing events + corporate tables shilling stuff...and 20% cards/memorabilia. It's target is a lot of the "shiny stuff" and younger collectors, but they deserve shows, too...so it's fun for some of those kind of collectors.

110% not my thing, but it exists and it's very strong on talent + corporate sponsors.

Looked at it today and decided to pass. Would be easy for me but not enough interest in what’s going on. Not my scene, and will be very crowded. Has also gotten very warm in NYC and sure attending will involve a big line outside.

Thanks for the additional info. A lot more going on than I realized but still not interested in paying that much to get in.

No, but might have if not traveling this weekend. I do like the Friday lineup with current and former Yankees but the autograph prices are pretty far out there.

You couldn’t pay me 10K to spend a day there.

rjackson44 06-19-2025 10:14 PM

Not even for free

Snapolit1 06-20-2025 04:41 AM

Is more of a sports fan event than collectors. Sure there will be lots of parents and kids there having a great time.

Eh, I'm craven enough to do it for $5K and a free lunch.

Adam, your experience from last year makes it clear to me that I don't need to be there this year. I wonder if any of the vintage dealers that were there last year are returning. Based on what you wrote, it wouldn't seem to make sense for them to come back.

The free lunch will be hot dogs you have to wait an hour in line to get -- and they'll make you sick!

Same...last time i was there was for the bar exam. Hard pass

Leon 06-21-2025 08:22 AM

I think a lot of us, myself included, are thinking this is a card show. It's not really a card show, I don't think. It's more of a social event with some dealers and others selling some cards. If I had young ones it might make sense to go for them. But for me, personally, a hard pass.

particra17 06-21-2025 08:35 AM

Went last year. Not going this year. I'd say it's something like 42% wrestling-focused.

BioCRN 06-21-2025 05:49 PM

Tom Brady decided to toss the Lombardi Trophy about 20ft to Gronk in a hallway at Fanatics Fest...and it broke into 2 pieces.

So things are starting going great so far.

I went, it helped grow the hobby.

It is not perfect, but lots of families with kids. The card area has 250 tables mostly modern cards, packs etc. I brought my oldest who is 21 (he does not collect, but loves sports) and he enjoyed seeing athletes, listened to panels. He knew some people I would not know. They had plenty of activities for kids and adults to enjoy. Yes, plenty of corporate booths like Topps, Nike, Dicks, Netflix sports.

Very loud where I was which was located near the 40/40 lounge (area where athletes/celebrities hung out, grabbed a drink) and NHL area and WWE.

It is not a card show.

Here is what I wanted to see at the Museum of Greatness.

Is that a type 1 photo used for the bowman card?

Yes and 52 Topps. I know this whole day has been talking about millions for the Wagner, that is $2 million in photos.

bcbgcbrcb 06-23-2025 10:16 PM

$70? That’s just a tad above normal for many of the big comic cons across the country. Card show attendees have it cheap, really. The average price of a decent comic con is $30-$40. There isn’t a single card show in the country that charges that much, not even the National, until this. Certainly not worth my time or money but the flippers will surely be there in full force with Zion cases in hand along with card ladder, market movers and one touches.

I am very happy to see a lemon peel ball displayed so prominently! It amazes me how relatively cheap they are compared to cards. Here is my latest lemon peel acquisition (from Brimfield in May). It is my fourth full sized lemon peel ball.
