CLOSED...1961 Topps Lot of Four w/The Big Train...ends Thur, 7/10, 8PM MDT
 

This week’s lot features a group of four 1961 Topps cards for your binder. For your irrelevant fact of the day, Paul Richards was widely credited with the "Waxahachie Swap," where he would move his pitcher to the outfield to bring in another pitcher to face a certain batter, then bring the original guy back in after the at-bat. Richards was from Waxahachie, TX...thus the name of the tactic. I saw Joe Maddon do that once in a game at Wrigley Field, but that was the only time I saw it done in 50 years of watching Cubs games. It probably won't happen again, with the three batter minimum rule in today's game. Just a buck bid to start, with whole dollar increments. Shipping is about $5-$6 (I'll get you a total after I pack them up). and there's my standard 10-minute rule at the close. The auction closes at 8PM MST (Mountain Time), however a bid between 7:50-8:00 will extend it another ten minutes from the time of that bid, and any subsequent bid. Note on shipping: The USPS is frustrating in that you have to ship as a Ground Advantage Package to get tracking, and to be able to protect the cards from the sorting machine, which is why it's so high. Since shipping is sometimes more than the winning bid, and because I get a lot of repeat buyers, I'm happy to hold onto the cards as long as you want, to combine shipping on future wins. You just tell me when you want them, and I'll combine them, mail them, and give you the total. Most guys get 4-6 lots for the same $6 as one would cost.
