Extra Charges on Shipments to Canada
Anyone else getting charged after the fact for packages sent to Canada?
I sent one that had $2000 worth of contents, fully declared thru Shipstation using the USPS Global Shipping(the cost which was multiples of sending a similar package in the US). Checked the box, "all taxes paid by recipient" or such language. After delivery I was charged $143.03 by Shipstation thru Paypal(which I used to pay for the label). Never had this happen before. Tariffs? or something else? Can't seem to get any answers from Shipstation or Paypal. Sadly have two more smaller value packages enroute to Canada using the same shipping method |
So I heard back from Shipstation. When I opted for the cheaper Global Post the import fees and duties are charged to the sender not the recipient....Now to hopefully scratch back the fees...

All's well that ends well. After telling me I was on the hook for the duties Shipstation, just refunded my account the taxes/duties they charged me. It is a credit, hopefully they don't change their mind!

We stopped using our software for foreign shipments and are doing them the old-fashioned way at the PO. Too many weird issues like the one you're having.
