Spalding Trophies!
Hey, I've been out of commission and just got out of the hospital (again). But we dug deep into the TSOG archives, just to break up our lengthy hiatus on The Stuff of Greatness. Here's the latest video....

Beautiful detail and stellar workmanship are two of the hallmarks of these giant trophies. If you have any to show, please post them! Mark, I certainly hope your recovery is rapid.
I first saw a Spalding Trophy in person at the 2015 National. Until then, I didn't know how beautiful they were. Digital images don't convey their quality well; they're truly one of those things you have to see in person to fully appreciate. I've acquired a few here and there and even had the privilege of meeting MGHPro many years ago. Although I haven't gone down the road of those Spalding figurals(yet), once I picked up my first the quest would be on to gather each player. They speak to me but the right condition coupled with right price just hasn't been there. Here's a Spalding....don't believe I've posted this one before. The smaller plaque popped up on ebay and hadn't ever seen one so I was pretty content with that until I saw a listing of a much larger but similar trophy award. The bigger one exhibits exact same image but even better quality. I kept thinking to myself the dimensions are probably off as I didn't think it could be that big. I get the shipping quote and now I'm sure hoping it's as big as the description says lol. Sure enough it is large!! About 14" x 21" |
