1932 Football Trophy Question
 

Hi all,

Anyone familiar with who Norman A Springer was? I picked up this trophy from 1932 won by Colgate lineman Bob Smith, but can't find anything in my hasty searches about who he was, what the history of the award was, etc. Apologies if the picture shows sideways as well.

I think the award might be named after bob smith who was an all-american guard at colgate in 1932 and is in the colgate fb hall of fame.

Sorry, I phrased the question poorly. I know Bob Smith, I am more curious about who Norman A Springer was and why the award was named for him.
