Closing Tonight - Love of the Game Summer Premier Auction

Hi all:

Hope everyone is doing well.

Just a reminder that tonight is the closing of LOTG's Summer auction. Extended bidding begins at 9pm EDT.

To coincide with the closing, we'll be hosting a livestream on both Facebook and Instagram Live, from 6:30 EDT til 8. Then at 8, I'll be joining John at the 4Collectors YouTube livestream for a while as we head into extended bidding.

Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/LoveOfTheGameAuctions
Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/lotg_auctions/
YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/live/wrj5epm...56pEyfzydoPDMG

If you're free, come hang out with us as we chat about the auction, answer questions and probably goof around a bit.

As for the auction itself, it's one of our best, with a great variety of tough cards, gorgeous Old Judges, Carribean issues with some really tough HOFers, new discoveries, original photos, signed cards, and of course the Sweet Caporal hockey postcards that had so many people buzzing at the National.

You can access the auction here, if you're so inclined: https://bid.loveofthegameauctions.com/Lots/Gallery

Good luck to all consignors and bidders!

-Al

Congrats to an amazing auction
That Joe’s gas card went strong 19.2k

powell_am 08-10-2025 07:18 AM

That auction has a great selection of Negro league related cards. Now I’m tired this morning because I stayed up!

Congrats on a great auction

Great auction! So many fun memorabilia pieces to bid on. My lone win but 1951 Mantle so I'm happy with that:)

Boy I didn't see this going for over $4k with taxes/shipping -- sale price around 70% higher than the last PSA 4 at auction in December. Priced me out in the wee hours.

I think the pre-war market is STRONG.

ruth-gehrig 08-10-2025 10:22 AM

And the 3 lots of poor-good T206s were really strong right??

Congrats on a great auction

Some great items, ofcourse the TG Charleston a showstopper was a great result for the consigner. I was real close to hitting submit again at 12:30 on the Punch.

Charleston card is not in cards for me anymore.

Some items I had not seen auctioned like the Acebo Dandridge and an Dihigo or two and loved the Ray Brown photo for the Caramelo Deportivo.

Speaking of photos, wow, on the Jim Brown rookie type 1 photo.

Hated having to sell the TG Charleston. Divorce sucks ...

Sorry to hear that, Kenny.

I came up short on a few, but landed a small one. Since I don't know if it's for resale I will refrain from showing it. Great auction and congrats to all of the winners.

I came away with two cards — a TG Dobie Moore (my first of him) and my first 1909 Cabanas negro leaguer (Jabuco Hidalgo). I really wanted the Dave Brown but someone wanted it more.

LOTG, Ryan Christoff, and a recent Hake’s have been bringing the heat!

Always felt like this one flew a bit under the radar—especially once those Polar Bear packs started pulling in big numbers. Definitely one of my favorite tobacco-related pieces in the collection (solid card storage, too :)). Big kudos to Al and the team—really well-run auction all around!

Kenny Cole 08-10-2025 12:28 PM

The TG Moore was mine too. Great player. I hope you enjoy it.

powell_am 08-10-2025 12:30 PM

You sold some great stuff. Wish you the best. It will be cherished.

aljurgela 08-10-2025 12:53 PM

so sorry Kenny

That sucks man... but I am glad that at least you got a nice hammer on that elite cards... you will always be one of the best NL collectors out there for me, my friend.... Best... Al

Great Auction

Picked up some goodies, but can't seem to download the scans from LOTG, but getting two Punch cards that I was missing (and one with a back) and the Minnie Minoso Hage's and Ray Brown photo really made me smile (even after 3am)...

Sorry to see your cards scatter a bit, Kenny. You always had amazing stuff.

Well done, Al.

BioCRN 08-10-2025 01:08 PM

Interesting price mix on the non-star/non-HOF OJs.

HOF OJ's did well. A couple of the John Wards went a bit cheap even though they were lower grade examples.

I thought I was overbiding on the SGC 2 King Kelly, and still fell 1K short of the final hammer (pre-BP).

Thanks Al. If you bought the Carlos Roggers Punch, it was mine too...

LOTG is one of if not best auctions I have ever seen! Always great memorabilia to pick from!

I lost out on that great 1933 Polo Grounds Type 1. Bidder who won grabbed it at last second around 3:18am when the bidding closed, but I won the 1939 Yankees stadium and 1942 Ebbets Field Type 1s !!

Thanks Al !!!

Ludington1 08-10-2025 02:54 PM

I was able to grab a couple of the unique Indianapolis OJ cards. Might have overpaid by a few bucks but I’m sure once they’re in my team case on my wall I won’t think about the money.

That set was amazing, congrats. I don’t care at all about postcards, but these being complete copies of the actual cards (but even better) makes it insanely epic.

aljurgela 08-10-2025 06:09 PM

Yes... that was me as well Kenny

Filled a few holes in my T209 set

dgheriani 08-10-2025 09:11 PM

Couldn’t agree more. I’m not a postcard collector either but the dynamics surrounding this set make it very desirable.

This one raised my eyebrows, too. The N162s seem to have gone wild recently. Granted, they're gorgeous cards, but that one has a busted top left corner--definitely not overgraded. Crazy strong price!

I got three of the 5 items I stuck with. I was prepared to go deep on the McInnis photo, thank God when I left the auction at 1:30am, I awoke the next morning to see that it had held firm. As stated before, there was a literal smorgasbord of vintage to choose from, it was hard to know which way to go, but then prices and staying in my particular price lane prevailed. I’m going to pair this with my McInnis Cracker Jack card and display it. Thanks to LOTG for the great array of goodies, but I, like many, would love to see the auction end a little earlier….minor point, but a point.

Just got my bill from the LOTG auction and I did win the 1915 CJ Owen Bush card after all. I thought I was outbid , but I guess just tied.
Even with the crease in the top corner, the color and richness of the image are absolutely stunning.Love the uniform details…… Anyway, happy to add this to the team!

Was the Charleston a record sale for a Cuban League card?
