Anyone have any luck getting creases out of postcards?

Last week I purchased a football postcard from an online seller and when it arrived, it had a crease in it that I didn’t notice in the photo. I wrote it off, thinking that I missed it. Today I received this Joe Dugan postcard from the same seller. It had one little thin piece of cardboard in an envelope, and the postcard now has a nice spider crease down the entire middle of the card that follows the bend of the cardboard. Why can’t sellers stop worrying about saving pennies and ensure that items get where they’re supposed to in the proper condition?

Has anyone ever tried to iron creases like this out of a postcard or have another method?

Many would consider this card alteration and recommend against it. Open a claim and get your money back.

No it’s shot… just leave it that way. I’m sorry.

Before worrying about the crease...what was that sold as being? Looks like a modern creation and not a vintage piece.

That's a postcard?

Yeah, what looks to be gloss and wrong cardboard stock made me think reprint or fantasy piece as well.

I think my photo of the flimsy shipping cardboard may have confused some. Yes, it’s a postcard.

Yes, that was confusing. Still, that piece was definitely issued decades after Dugan's career ended. Everything should be shipped properly and securely, but at least this item wasn't a huge loss from a financial perspective (and no loss to you, as eBay will side with you if the seller doesn't want to do the right thing themselves). I don't like to see the destruction of anything, regardless of value.

We shouldn't have to do this, but anytime you suspect a seller of using an ESUS or if you see a very small S&H fee on a lower priced item, maybe it's best to inquire how securely they plan on shipping the piece. If the shipping cost is an absolute pittance, especially when it comes to a low value item, it makes me suspicious that they're not going to ship it properly. On the other hand, when I see free shipping on a pricier piece, I don't feel the need to be as leery. It's strange how that works, but everyone here likely understands.

There is no reason not to ship well even at a discount. I use a new, clean mailer and have never had a complaint about a card damaged, except for one that arrived with tire tracks across the package. The problem you had is sloppy packing by a useless idiot. I had the same problem with an expensive poster purchase from a bookseller. Moron used a flattened box with a strip of extra cardboard and of course the thing bent in transit right along the line of the cardboard.

I Took the seller to task and explained to her that this was baseball memorabilia that needed to be shipped properly. She understood and refunded two of my earlier purchases and one that I had paid her for that she was still yet to ship. The final one arrived packaged the same way, but there was no damage. Some people don’t learn. I sell on eBay all the time and I over use bubble wrap and cardboard and other shipping materials to make sure that the things I ship arrive intact.
