This card looks narrow to me. Mine attached for comparison. I have never seen an unaltered version of this card that was centered.

Top right corner on that PSA 8 looks like it could be a bit suspect, no? I think you might be right, Peter.

Yeah, I have never seen a centered one either. The 8 that sold looks miscut, at least.

Guess which Jordan cost $499 and which one cost -- wait for it -- $140,000?

Guessing the Beckett would fetch slightly more than $500 in today's market :)

Peter_Spaeth 08-26-2025 07:32 PM

Yes it would but it would not fetch even 5 percent of the PSA 8. This is the world we live in.

Exhibitman 08-29-2025 07:07 PM

But PSA is always right, right?

Peter_Spaeth 08-30-2025 05:05 PM

There are people notorious for trimming Star BKB and getting them into Beckett slabs. Whether that continues with PSA, I dunno.

Brent G. 09-05-2025 05:30 PM

Peter, do you know when this card was released to the public compared to the #101? Did they come out at the same time, just different bags?

Not sure if same time or later. The first Star Jordan issued, I am told by people who know, was the 1984 Court Kings. It's picked up but it used to be massively underpriced. It's still just a fraction of the 101.

I found this on a Blowout thread where the question was posed and some original customers chimed in. I assumed the cards either 1984 on the flip came out that year, but it seems none of them did.

I’m thinking about going for an Olympic card myself — it may not be first, but being in the same release 94 cards later is still a rookie issue to me.

But that guy’s recollection has to be wrong since the Jordan 195 and the 288 come in the same bag.

What about the size on this one currently on eBay? If it’s crooked in the holder, doesn’t that seem off?

Most of these go in their bigger holders, with more room inside. So they’re actually oversized more than undersized. Here’s a comparison to one in a standard holder (way less common).

The 6 has a huge border on the left, it's fine.

I would not bet against Jarrett on anything to do with Star BKB.

Who is Jarrett, Peter?

Now you’ve got me thinking about the Court Kings instead.

Owner of the definitive website on Star cards, Basketball Gold. Along with Steve Taft, the authority IMO. Would not buy a Star card from anyone else without one of them approving.

Good move IMO. It's hard to go wrong with that card.

I appreciate the insight and tip on the Basketball Gold site. Star cards have always been a mystery to me and the site answered every question I had.

If that's your 8 -- my goodness, what a beauty. Just 801 total graded copies for this one compared to 1,746 for the #101 (and 35,000 for ‘86 Fleer) — I'm with you, it seems WAY undervalued. I also love that the pic is from the long-gone Market Square Arena in my home state.

Star BKB has many key RCs but they have not caught on like Jordan who is unique in the hobby.

Brent G. 10-06-2025 01:01 PM

Great cards, Peter! They won’t approach MJ, but there’s a lot of increased interest in those two players. You can still get either Court Kings in an BGS 8.5 for around $400 — I don't think that's gonna last much longer.

I bought a PSA 4 for $3,675 one month ago exactly. This card is going CRAZY.

Peter there’s an 8.5 on Probstein right now — $14,000 w/ 2 days left — that’ll pretty much tell you what yours is up to now. Did you get that for $499 too??

Peter_Spaeth 10-07-2025 11:05 PM

I was a little late for that, 1500 ish.

And I just threw up a little bit in my mouth. I had and sold a Beckett 9 CK Jordan during the pandemic. There goes my Kona condo :(

Yeah you can now get a new small sedan or a ‘33 Goudey Ruth #181 in a 5+ for that card. If it crosses to a PSA 7, that recent high is $37,500.

I know a guy who sold a PSA 5 for $9,500 cash yesterday. That was a $5,000 card six weeks ago.

FYI: If anyone is looking for a Jordan CK#26, I have a contact who currently has a PSA 4, 5, 6, and BGS 9 listed on eBay that I can connect you with who's happy to do discounted offsite sales. It's where I got mine.

Peter_Spaeth 10-20-2025 04:33 PM

The CK Jordan is priced at a small fraction of the 101, mostly because it's oversized I suppose. If one is priced out of the 101 market, it's a great alternative IMO. In hand, it's a visually stunning card, much more appealing than the 101.

I couldn't agree more, Peter. I didn't know anything about it until this thread and digging into the Basketball Gold site. It's a modern-day cabinet card and the most visually impressive piece I've ever owned, with legend on its side in possibly being Jordan's first licensed card to reach consumers.

Peter_Spaeth 10-23-2025 11:23 PM

How does this get an 8 when PSA grading Star is so hyper strict on centering? Even assuming it is full size.

Man I don't know how any card on the top or bottom of those bags could score a PSA 8.

This one has very strong corners and it's probably centered the same sa that PSA 8 which to me looks like Animal Farm grading. Also, it looks wider to me than the PSA 8, making me wonder.

I just picked these up for less than $500 all in combined, which seemed crazy to me.

Peter_Spaeth 10-26-2025 05:23 PM

Oversize cards just get relatively little love outside of maybe T3s. Value aside I'd rather have the CK Jordan than the 101 which I don't particularly like although the one I posted isn't bad I guess.
