Jonah Tong, Nolan McLean and the Mets

Exciting times with Noland McLean and Jonah Tong getting called up and playing great!

Loved this graphic comparing Tong's delivery with Lincecum's. Tong has modeled his delivery after Lincecum's since he was a kid.

At 28, Lincecum was no longer very good and he was done at 32 so maybe not the best person to copy. Time will tell.

I'd want more than 4 good years out of a pitcher even if 2 are Cy Young years.

I'd also take 3 World Series. Granted, Lincecum was only really instrumental in one of them.

But obviously, I'd like Tong to last longer than Lincecum did.

McLean is the real deal.

I will have to see more from Tong to annoint him as the second coming of anyone. He looked very green in his first start. His fastball did not befuddle major league hitters like it did in the minors (no surprise there), and his control was so-so. I think he still needs more development time in AAA. If I am wrong I will be thrilled.

His third start didn't go too well. Gave up 6 runs and didn't make it out of the first inning.
