Davey would have been perfectly suited for today's game. I remember back in real time questioning a lot of his moves. He almost blew Game 6 by taking the bunt off with HoJo at the plate and not moving the runner over from 2nd to 3rd. Today? If he sacrificed him over, people would be calling for his head!

The hindsight is always interesting, isn't it? I find it amazing that the 86 team players all seemed to really want to play for him, even though the personalities within that team sometimes clashed -- like the whole Gary Carter / Keith Hernandez feud.

Darryl Strawberry came out with some nice words about Davey Johnson. So did Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling.
