Saw this is playing nearby in the Chicago suburbs so I’m gonna check it out tomorrow. It’s just one theater here, so must be pretty small release, but maybe it’s near you.

Brent- I’d be curious to know your impression of the movie. This is news to me, hope it does him justice. Trent King

I’ll definitely provide a review here. It’s 1 hr. 40 min., and currently a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score with 7 reviews.

If you want to wait a matter of days, it apparently airs on the History Channel in less than two weeks.

I’m an AMC A-List member, so the more I see, the more I get out of that monthly fee (can see up to 4 a week for $28 mo.).

Whether you know nothing about Clemente or everything, this is a really good film full of fantastic footage and stories. The best are those from regular Pittsburgh folk who had incredible interactions with him that’d never happen today. He no doubt would’ve had an amazing impact in what should’ve been the second half of his life.

I’ve posted on here in the past about how Jr was my next door neighbor for a number of years and the tremendous insight he gave on his father. Jr has mirrored his dad’s thoughts and ambitions. If you are in Pittsburgh this weekend, a lot of celebrations today on the Clemente bridge, tomorrow the movie is playing at PNC park and then of course the game on Monday.

He had so much care and compassion for his own people and Hispanic/Latino people in general. What a wonderful and much needed advocate he would have been if he had lived. I can't even immediately come up with the name of anybody from the last 50 years who fits that description. (I'm Canadian, so perhaps it's not as immediately apparent.)

Got to watch this on History Channel Tuesday night. Well worth anyone's time, IMO. The stories about locals he interacted with in Pittsburgh and Latin America are really interesting. Some terrific archival baseball footage as well.

Really enjoyed it!

thought it was pretty good

I watched it and thought it was well done. I always enjoy vintage film footage that I haven't seen before.

Being a retired Marine, I was very happy to finally see a movie that reflected Clemente was in the Marine's - that somehow isn't very well known.

His legacy lives on. Semper Fi.

Watched it on Tuesday as well. I thought it was very good. Roberto is one of my favorite players to collect. Great player and even better human being. I learned a lot about the man. Like many have touched on already, there was a lot of really good footage in the movie.

I just watched it at the History Channel, no fees or ads of anything. This Clemente fan really liked it, thanks so much!

Looking forward to seeing it. A fellow Mt. Lebanon native was in charge.

Thank you for the link. Great documentary so far up to the second commercial break where my computer froze up. Looking forward to the rest of it.

While we're here, why not show our favorite Clemente?!

This is my only one, secured in a Net54 trade. I love it because East Hills was eventually put out of business in the '70s by the new, shiny Monroeville Mall, where one of my all-time favorite films — the original Dawn of the Dead — took place.

What I find ridiculous is that Roberto still couldn't get his real name on a card from his hometown 11 years into his career there.
