Baseball magazine premiums?

Not sure of the year or any specifics other than what is printed at the bottom. Any help is appreciated!

The Ruth is fantastic, but I didn't get an image for the second link. We have a BB Magazine premium expert on here who has collected over 2,000 of them, hopefully he will come in with some help. Just off hand, I'd guess your Ruth is old and valuable, and I would love to see the other one.

Thank you! The second image is a Cobb in rough shape. Trying again

Wow! The Cobb--an M113, by the way--is older and possibly more valuable than the Ruth--an M114--despite its terrible condition. Together, they are a collector's dream, congratulations on a great find!

Hi Jason -

Those are cool, what's on the back of the Ruth? And what are the dimensions?

If blank, then it looks to be what I call a Type 3 m114 Ruth, which I believe was released in Sept 1929.

My studies of the Baseball Magazine posters (m114) lead me to believe there are 8 different pictures used for Ruth m114s with that one being the third, which has two versions, the other was released in Nov 1921.

Also, I'm very curious what others you have, as it looks from the pictures you have a bunch of others, including the 1930 Athletics Team. I am always looking for more for my collection, and to help in my ongoing study of their release dates.

Here are mine. I think my 1921 Ruth version is probably trimmed.

Doug

PS - the Cobb m113 is a type 2, one of two versions, which I date to an initial release of Dec 1913. While you note yours being in rough shape, I'm sure you can imagine that's very common for the issue due to its size. I would say the Cobb is worth $100 on a good day, while the Ruth will be worth more due to it being Ruth and his type 3 m114 being seen less frequently than Cobb's type 2 m113.

Hey there Doug, I have some pre-war and a guy came up with them at a card show. He came by with them in a book, but he never came back by after I posted. There were some team posters in there from what I remember. I’ll try to buy if he happens to come around today!

Or just get his contact info for me, if you wouldn't mind. I would definitely like to see what he has. I'm going to send you a message.

That Ruth, and some other m114s, are now on ebay.

They are and I think the seller is being optimistic on his prices.

I'm curious what he took for the Ruth and Yankees team m114s. Both are on the rare side. All of their m114 listings are on the rare side.

FYI, in case anybody cares, there are two caption versions of the Ruth, the one this guy sold I believe to be the second released

He took $400 for the Ruth and $600 for the Yankees Team.

N.B. ebay has a research tool in its selling area that you can use to look up best offer sales prices.
