Help identifying photo?

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction, or perhaps provide any information on the origins of this photo or what it is. Bought this at a garage sale today. Told it’s an original? Photo. It is an 8x10

It sure is neat, even as a mystery. Just thought I would put this out for any insight. Seller wasn’t real sure about it but thought it might have some tie to Skagway.

Thanks everyone!

if you have access to a black light / uv light, illuminate the back of that and see if it fluoresces... (it'll look bright purple. Then post here whether it fluoresced or not.

You will need to post a bigger image. It could be an early photo removed from its backing but it is hard to tell based on the image you posted.

Not sure if these will help. I bought a black light and shined it on the back. For or better or worse I am colorblind so seeing if this fluoresces the right color is tricky.
Thanks for your reply and tips!

Thanks for your reply. I am having a hard time uploading a larger image due to the file size restriction. I am not sure how the black light photos posted so big but the original is small. Do you have any suggestions?

Trying to post a bigger picture

That appears to be an original image removed from its original cardboard mount. It is probably from the area you bought it in but it could also have come there through a move. I doubt you will be able to get too many more details unless the JP letters mean anything in the area you found it. Based on the uniforms it is probably circa 1905 or so. Cool photo!

The letters are WP, not JP.

Good catch Michael, thank you.
