I was reflecting on Ozzie Smith's career, one that may never again be replicated given the emphasis on slugging over defense these days.

Here are two fun facts:

1) Ozzie Smith's career WAR was 8% higher than that of Derek Jeter

2) Ozzie Smith never struck out more than 49 times in a season. His career strikeout rate is 5.5%.

Always liked this play, not so much the jump but jumping and an accurate throw - Worked hard at batting, his last 11 season I would guess he batted around 275, good a bunter as anyone - stole 580 bases
