SGC Slabbed autos
Hey, so I got back into the hobby in 2020. SGC had stopped authenticating on card autos. I’ve heard some random reasons over the years, but I am looking at a couple for my 1976 set, and am a bit concerned being in SGC slabs.
Can anyone shed some light on the back story? Thanks! |
SGC closed their auto authentication shop soon after they were exposed for certifying approximately 10 signed T206 cards, some of which sold in auction for tens of thousands of dollars.
Because of the power of the internet, most of those cards were found in raw, unsigned form, less than three years before SGC certified them. https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=262673 This was also right around the time the company was sold after the move to Boca Raton, FL. |

Why was 'SetBuilder' Manny banned? I hope it wasn't for exposing that T206 junk.
