Please help me date this Griffey photo

I did some research and know that Jersey style first came out in 1987 but whats throwing me off is the pants. The Mariners didnt wear powder blue pants after 1985-86. Any help would be great

I believe is from his minor league days. You might want to check their uniforms.

I believe it's more than likely a Spring Training photo (note the palm trees in the background). The M's never wore blue pants after 1984. But the yellow 3 Dimensional "S" on the cap indicates a timeframe of 1987 - 1992. Since Griffey broke into the majors in 1989, that limits the timeframe to 1989-92.

Perhaps someone can shed some additional light. Along these lines, please be sure to check out the latest TSOG segment, which features Mariner's defunct Caps... it covers every style leading up to the present.

I don't know if this will help any, but here is pic of Griffey & Burks from 1988 with Jr sporting a Mariners uniform.

Was able to get a hold of the Guy who took the photo and confirmed by his original negative file that it was taken Spring training 1988. Pretty cool. Also contacted the society of american baseball research who also said it was 1988
