I have traveled to Cuba for baseball for the last 27 year and will return in November. Over the years I befriended many former players, including Conrado "Connie" Marrero, the former Washington Senator who died in Havana two days before his 103rd birthday in 2014. I assisted Marrero for the last 15 years of his life and continue to help his family. I am holding a fundraiser and a chance to win an original oil painting of Marrero by Jennifer Ettinger, whose paintings of baseball greats adorn the exterior of Nat Bailey Stadium, the home of the Vancouver Canadian franchise of the Northwest League. You can also win a game-worn Cuban jersey and an autographed 8 x 10 photo of Marrero. Tickets are $25 or 5 for $100. You can also contact me if you are interested in joining my baseball tour scheduled for November 14 to 21. We will attend five games of the Cuban National Series, visit sites related to the rich history of baseball on the Island, and meet current and former players. I can also provide opportunities to meet with Cuban collectors.
