Usual PSA rant incoming
I can't tell you how frustrating it is to send cards, in which were slabbed by SGC 3 months ago, a sister company of PSA, and PSA will not slab them. "The card is too fragile" How on earth was it not too fragile to slab by SGC, but not by PSA??? I've included pictures below for reference, and I bought the card already slabbed by SGC. I'd love to hear if anyone has gone through something similar and if anyone has any suggestions on how to get cards like this slabbed by PSA. |
Maybe they have a waiver form you could sign.

Well SGC does put it in fully in a sleeve to make it hold its shape and position. Although PSA has some plastic-like overlays in some slabs and uses printed plastic sizers in some…I don’t know that they would feel that anything they use would prevent movement of the card and maybe further affect that uneven and compromised bottom edge.
That’s what I would tell you if I was a PSA explainer person. And then I would say “We appreciate your desperation to have your card in a PSA slab, please come again.” |
Even in the SGC slab, that's a nice Ank.

Seems to me PSAs agenda has gone from making it difficult to get a fair crossover to find any reason to reject a crossover - not only punish someone that dared to use another TPG but punish anyone who dared to purchase a card already graded by another TPG. (Gonna stop short of getting into the eBay authentication nonsense )
None of my business why it needs to be in a ugly PSA slab but Looks great in the SGC holder. |
I still buy a few raw cards, depending, but most cards I buy are slabs and I buy the card , not the grader. I’m building the 1949 Leaf baseball set right now and I prefer ( as with my CJ’s and T206’s) SGC Slabs over any. The cards look great in them , esp if the cards have vibrant colors.
Know all the various opinions and you tube topics of SGC going under, what is PSA doing to it now , on and on, ad nauseam, I have always bought the card, raw, slabbed, pinhole, you name it…..if it looks good to me ( Eye or My Appeal) and fits the various threads of my collecting and the price is in my collecting zone…..I buy it. I would not change an SGC card that I already have in hand to any other grader, hence, the above problem doesn’t exist for me. I know a lot of folks want to swap all their SGC slabs to PSA……and good for them, that is what is important to them. I know future value plays a big part of that desire( I’m not a Rube), but were it me, I’d just collect the cards, get the best looking, nicest you can afford , build a great collection and, the most important part……HAVE FUN….NO STRESS( well , until someone beats you out of a card at an auction that you were dying to own) . Other than that , enjoy the best hobby on earth! |

I like it as it is, The black slab gives it a cool spooky look

If you are doing this for uniformity of your collection by slab it is up to you, but I agree with others just leave it protected in the SGC. |

I was starting to type up this diatribe, but instead I'll just say:
PSA sucks. Leave the card be in the SGC slab. |

I recall when Steve Rocci and Mike Baker left PSA to form GAI, later submissions from dealers and customers to switch their GAI cards back to PSA were met by the Graders of Death.

Keep the Card in SGC Slab their cards will continue to Retain and Grow in Value just as much as PSA.
