Older photos?

I picked this up at a show a couple of weeks ago, and I absolutely love it. I love seeing the old building in the background. I know Daffy Dean isn't a well known player and not collectible, and I got this for a good deal. But I'd like to pick up some more of this type stuff. My question is where does one find stuff like this? I'm talking like photos with advertising pieces, ads from magazines, etc, photos with stadium backdrops, stands in the background, stuff like that. I just don't know where to go to find them. Any help?

I don't know what to look for. Like what do I search for on eBay? Just old baseball photo? Or?

There are really a ton of ways to go about this. If you're looking at eBay - some options for searches are "Type 1 Baseball Photos", "Vintage Baseball photos", "Original Baseball Photography, etc. There are many premiums that have good photography, such as the sporting news series (m101-2 is my favorite) 1934 Butterfinger Premiums, etc.

Also, I would encourage following RMY auctions as it is focused completely on photography. And peruse some of the other AH's when their stuff opens up, always some great pieces that fit what you are looking for. REA, Love of the Game, Memory Lane, SCP, Mile High, Heritage, and Goldin have a lot in that category.

Thank you for that informative answer. I've learned quite a bit by watching a lot of the vintage collectors on Youtube. I just didn't know where or how to start. Also, I just took part in my first AH auction like 2 weeks ago. So haven't done a lot of AH stuff. But I will check into that avenue too. So thank you again for this information.

Hughes, if you are seeing pre-War, original Type 1 photos, RMY Auctions is an absolute must for you!! https://rmyauctions.com/

I will have to respectfully disagree with you about a guy who, among other accomplishments, won multiple world Series games and threw a no hitter.

Ken Holtzman has entered the conversation.

Always loved the background on this photo. Nothing fancy or elaborate, but just a snapshot of a moment long ago.

you might also want to search eBay for press photos and supplements. This press photo is from Baseball Magazine.
