Knowlegeable fans might also notice that only 2 of the players werent teammates of Anson and none of the players played significant time after 1900(Ryan 234 games,Duffy played 113 games,Rusie played just 3)

Very rare to see someone who routinely was at the top of the league in both strikeouts and walks.<BR><BR>Lange was definitely a great player when he played. Quick, great eye, a good offensive player. However, he only played 7 seasons so that probably disqualifies him alone (I'm not sure if pre-1900 players have a different set of rules).<BR><BR>Piano Legs Gore was also a very good player -- not one of the best ever, but definitely a memorable All-Star, long-career type.
