My wife supports my hobby, yet she considers me just hoarding old pieces of paper....lol. Anyway, I wanted to get her into it so she could apprecaite what I am doing so I decided to see if I could find any old tobacco cards that would fit her taste. She really is into butterflies so interestingly enough I found some Red Turkey cards on ebay with butterflies on them! The thing is I can't find ANY information about them other than they were supposedly issued in the 1920s. I know this board is geared more toward sports cards but I was hoping someone could lead me in the right direction.

Posted By: <b>Tom Boblitt</b><p>some 19th Century Kinney Butterflies cards that are very nice. Not sure what the N-classification is on them but search for 'Kinney Butterfly' or 'Kinney Butterflies'. I may still have a couple at home. Will check for you. Generally $8-$10 each depending on condition. Don't know about the other issue.

Posted By: <b>Bob Lemke</b><p>I collect the animal-skin rugs series of tobacco felts (B12 Type 3) and when searching eBay find tons of similar butterfly felts (B14, B15); very attractive and colorful and not at all expensive.

They should be in the collectibles/tobaccoiana/'silks' area.....................<BR><BR>GOOD LUCK..........anything we can do to help each other to soften the death-grip our wives have on the purse-strings.........(okay, a little dramatic!).........

They were put out by Turkey Red in late 1910.<BR><BR>I have a few of these... possibly a double or two as well. Email me if you'd like me to send you a good scan of one or two of the cards.<BR><BR>I would highly suggest you try to get a copy of the publication entitled "American Tobacco Cards.. Price Guide & Checklist" by Robert Forbes and Terence Mitchell. I managed to locate a copy through Amazon.com on the suggestion of another Network 54 board member and this is a GREAT resource for non sport tobacco issues.<BR><BR>Regards,<BR><BR>Scott
