Anyone See Antiques Roadshow This Week? Posted By: Dan Bretta
First new show in a while and they opened up the new season with Simeon Lipman which immediately piqued my interest....he had on a gal who brought an 1885 Chicago White Stockings Opening day program which had a picture inside of West Side Park and another picture of the Team. He put the estimate at $8,000-$12,000. I'm almost certain I've seen that program before so I don't think it was something undiscovered, but still very cool to see. |

Anyone See Antiques Roadshow This Week? Posted By: Brock G.
I saw it on Monday night and I have got to say I was amazed at the estimate of $10,000. I guess I dont pay enough attention to those type of items because I was thinking 2,000-3,0000. I could see if it was a full size program or something but the size of the item was just so small. |

Anyone See Antiques Roadshow This Week? Posted By: Dan Bretta
An opening day program from the first game in West Side Park and the fact that it had a team photo which included Anson, Kelly, Clarkson and Sunday on it and another photo of the ballpark (19th century photos of ballparks are very rare) I thought the estimate was pretty dead on if not a little low. |

Anyone See Antiques Roadshow This Week? Posted By: Rob Dewolf
My wife and I were watching together, and while the item was being described, I said, "10,000 to $15,000." Then, as a bit more detail was revealed and I took into account the size of it, I said, "No, $8,000 to $12,000."

About 15 seconds later, Lipman gave the estimate as $8,000-$12,000.

I'm still not sure whether the look my wife gave me was one of admiration or bemusement. |

Anyone See Antiques Roadshow This Week? Posted By: Brock G.
I guess I just dont know enough about these type of things. If you collect 19th century memorabilia or have interest in early Chicago items I guess it would make more sense but I could not imagine spending that kind of money on something like that(not that I have ever spent 10K on anything). |

Anyone See Antiques Roadshow This Week? Posted By: Patrick Nester
I saw the show and thought the item was outstanding. One of the top ten 19th century Chicago items I have seen. I would love to have it as I have the invitation to the same game in my collection. Here is a scan of that.

Look at the invitation below where it says an "elegant souvenir will be presented to each lady visitor at the opening game" I wonder if that refers to that program. I have had this invitation for a long time and I have always wondered what that "souvenir" was. I have a regular season 1885 Chicago program in my collection and it looks nothing like the item that was on Antiques Roadshow. Therefore I bet the "souvenir" could be that item that was on the roadshow.

|
