Auto. authentication

Posted By: Bob S
I've got a lot of autos...the usual stuff...Ted W. Mick, J. Dimag. and lots of combos of the above and with guys like Maris, the 3 Dimag Bros. etc. Balls, Photos, cuts, newspaper photos, even First Day Covers.

I guess my only pre war item is a ball with Pie Traynor and Andy Rooney (yes, it was a Pittsburgh thing)

Unauthenticated they are almost unsaleable.

My question is is Jim Spence (or maybe Richard Simon) the best way to go for authentication? And does anyone have their fee structures?

thx

Bob

Posted By: davidcycleback
James Spence Authentication, Simon, PSA/DNA and Global Authentication (GAI) are all respected places.

If it's a large group lot, you might consider consigning it to, say, MastroNet. They hire outside authenticators to authenticate the lots, so you wouldn't have to do that stuff. Also MastroNet gets good prices for autographs. Williams, Mantle, Maris, Dimaggio are all hot stuff these days-- and a nice group lot will likely sell well on MastroNet.

Otherwise, the authentictors are equipped to authenticate a large collection. Visit their websites.
