(Slightly) OT 1951 Topps Team and All Star Cards

Posted By: Dave Hornish
I know these are post war but many of you collect these and I'm hoping I can use my frequent poster mulligan here.

If anyone has back scans they can share of any or all of the 1951 Topps Team cards (please specify dated or undated) and the ML All Stars and Connie Mack All Stars, I would appreciate it. I am trying to determine, among other things, if the ML All Stars came with only pure white backs. Much more info is available here, on the Postwar board: http://tinyurl.com/63cf5z and you can see the differences in cardboard stock used.

Long story short, the Connie Macks have either back from what I have seen, the Team Cards as well but I am unsure of the correlation on those between dated/undated varieties and the backs.

Thanks!

Posted By: Dave Hornish
Thanks.

I have been alerted to SGC Registry sets (RStuckemeyer) for both tan and white back Connie Macks but it lacks three white backs (Johnson, Mathewson, Speaker) altho' I have the White Back Johnson confirmed by someone else.

Can anyone confirm the White Back Matty and Speaker? And does anyone know if there are back scans anywhere for the three SP ML All Star cards of Konstanty, Roberts and Stanky? FYI, along with the 2 SP Phillies, Eddie Stanky was from, yup, Philadelphia.

Posted By: Dave Hornish
Nice! Now, Speaker almost looks cream colored, a shade I have noticed on some team cards. Is this normal fading, or was there a third printing of the Teams and Connie Macks? Hard to tell from scans sometimes but if Tris is white, then all 11 Connie Macks are confirmed with both backs.

I have seen nothing but white back Current All Stars and do not have full data on the Team cards yet. Keep 'em coming-I think the backs are they key to the scarcity of the ML All Stars.
