E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: Curt
I was looking to get some input from this board on the value of this E92 Ty Cobb. I can typically view ended auctions to judge market value, but can't find any on this card. Also, I'm pretty sure this is an authentic card, but would appreciate a few supporting opinions. Thanks in advance.

[IMG][/IMG] |

E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: leon
Either a very poor scan or more probably a reprint. If real it is a several thousand (4k-5K?) card...imo |

E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: Richard
I have seen graininess like this on a good card before. How about a scan of the back? |
|
E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: Bobby Binder
Look at the hand on his hip it is to large. |
|
E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: Curt
Here is a better scan of the front and back. Let me know what you think.
Thanks

[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG] |

E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: peter ullman
that E102 cobb looks pretty good to me! |
|
E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: quan
looks to be a f/g e102 cobb...but u can subtract 3-4k from leon's estimate now since it's not the coveted e92. |
|
E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: leon
I would still like to see it in person but it has the characteristics consistent with a good card, imo. Here is a comparison too...

edited to add that your card is an E102, not E92
|

E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Curt, your card looks fine to me. |
|
E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: Curt
Thanks for the input guys. Considering the poor condition, do you think the cards would bring 1K? |
|
E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: peter ullman
i'll give you 1k for the cobb.
|
|
E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Yes |
|
E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Curt, I'd say it's worth $1500 to 2K. And never, ever trust a dentist.

(Though to be fair to Pete, I went through my entire life with only one cavity until December 1; since then I've had an abcess, root canal and bone graft and gum surgery on three quadrants of my mouth--wtf! To my incredible shock, my hatred of dentists disappeared as all of the work was nearly pain free (except that my wallet hurts)) |

E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: peter ullman
Lichtman...you anti-dentite bastid! |
|
E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: Jim VB
O'Keefe hates dentists, too! |
|
E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: leon
I feel your pain. I had surgery last week to get an implant in the #10 tooth, (top next to front) It was perfect too, before it cracked in half. |

E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: Curt
As of now, I do not own the card but am working with a seller who has a large vintage collection from the 50s and 60s, but they have about 20-30 cards from this era, including the Cobb (which obviously is not my area of expertise). Anyway, I appreciate the help, and if I close the deal, I'll be sure to let you guys know as I've already received a few offers. Thanks |

E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: leon
I agree with Mr. Shyness, Jeff L, on value, it's in the $1.5k-2k range. Good luck with the card if you get it. regards |

E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Leon, getting old sucks. When I learned I needed the gum surgery I was so freaked out about it that I told my wife that perhaps I should just have all the damn teeth removed. I mean, who can bear the thought of having their gums cut into and the bone underneath grafted? She responded that she would not sleep in the same bed with me if I went to sleep at night with my teeth in a glass in the bathroom. That ended that. |

E92 Ty Cobb Posted By: Jim VB
Last year I had a six month program that included one extraction, one root canal, two crowns and two bridges. All I could think of, as I sat in the chair and later wrote $9,000 in checks, was which cards I could have been buying with the money. |
