"Even the recent thread regarding volunteers for a Negro League project resulted in a much less than overwhelming number of responses. I know that there are a number of Negro League experts on this board as evidenced by the competitive bidding every time a quality item comes up for auction.

I believe in doing my part to help the hobby and educate collectors but I guess many do not agree with this philosophy. It seems more like a self-serving venture for many and if it does not help "ME" (and might even hurt "ME" in terms of knowledge and competition) then it is not worth getting involved in."

This particular concept seemed to work out very well when three of the most knowledgable collectors in the hobby on one given subject joined forces to produce a masterpiece book pertaining to Old Judge baseball cards.
