			If you use a large flat rate box, the box is free and mailing one to an APO is two bucks cheaper than mailing it to a US destination.  This helps people sending goodies to familiy members who are stationed overseas.
 Any other items to an APO or FPO are the exact same postage as a package mailed to a US destination.  If the Postal clerk charged you more, then he/she made a mistake.  You may need to fill out a customs form for a parcel, but that is the only difference.
