Picked up these Mickey Mantle photos this week and the article two weeks ago.
This next thing is ugly...I don't know what the guy was thinking when he framed it, but I'm glad he saved it.
Dated April 16, 1951 from the Newark (NJ) Star-Ledger. It reads in part:
Mickey Mantle, sensational New York Yankee rookie,
celebrated his promotion to the varsity yesterday by banging out a home run and three singles.
It was an exhibition game against the Dodgers at Ebbets Field, but it was his first game as a major leaguer, in a major league stadium.
