To your question about the value being so strong despite 100k copies of the card printed, the real value is in the high end PSA 9 and above cards. The cards are very condition sensitive and hard to find in very high grade. Raw cards and 8 or lower can be found for around $100 or less.

I don't know how many 86 Jordans were printed, but PSA has graded more than the 93 Jeter and that card is going up in value almost every day. Close to 5k now for a 9. And 1500 for an 8. Jeter is not as popular as Jordan, but he's still arguably the most popular baseball player from the same era and this is his best card. I'm surprised 8s don't sell for more.
