Answer- Pete Richert referred to Brooks as a vacuum cleaner on May 20.1967 when he was traded from the Washington Senators. Pete was quoted as saying" It will be nice to have the vacuum cleaner behind me"- Lee May is probably the first man to have shortened the nickname to "Hoover"
