The Orioles were visiting the Detroit Tigers at Tiger Stadium this day in 1971. The pitchers for the game were Pat Dobson for the Orioles and Les Cain for the Tigers. The picture below is from this game of Brooks hitting a single off of Cain. Anyone notice anything odd in the picture (besides his cut off batting helmet)?

If you saw it, Brooks is using a bat with the #8 on the knob. Just so you know Brooks really liked trying different player bats and styles of bat and loved using different player’s gloves and would trade out for a mitt he liked better than his current option.
