I've discussed Orioles co-op teams in some earlier posts. Today, I'm taking a look at the 1988 Virginia Generals. The Orioles provided Virginia with several of it's minor league players. The Generals were the worst team in the Carolina League that year, finishing 41-99. Interestingly, the Orioles class A affiliate Hagerstown Suns were also in the Carolina League.
This leads to the story of Orioles pitching prospect Brian Dubois. He ended up splitting the season with Virginia and Hagerstown. He was 2-5 with Virginia and 12-4 with Hagerstown. Dubois never played for the Orioles, but did spend several seasons with the Detroit Tigers (1989-90). By 1994, Dubois was back in the Orioles system and appeared in the set of cards inserted in the Orioles programs that year.
