An aside on Clyde. In 1946 he was the unhappy 3d string catcher for the Giants and wanted to be traded. While playing a series against the Cardinals in
St Louis the Giants accommodated the big Kluttz by trading him to the Phillies.

While CK was packing the Phil’s called to tell him they had traded him to St. Louis. So CK unpacked and joined the Cardinals who went on to tie the Dodgers for the top spot in the NL, and then beat them in a 3 game playoff.

I think CK contributed in one of the 2 games St Louis won. Unfortunately CK saw no action in the Cardinals 7 game series win over the Red Sox with Del Rice, who appeared here earlier, handling the catching duties
