not the guys you mentioned so much as the next tier down that might be more impressive, or even the guys that miss the HOF likely because of the war. Mickey Vernon comes to mind. Without the war he's likely over 2800 hits with 1500 RBI maybe a third batting title. etc. Suddenly he's a much more likely HOF'er. Or Al Dark who went to war right out of college so he wasn't even signed until he was 24.
A guy like Pee Wee Reese, who is deservedly in the HOF already would look much more impressive, likely bumping his numbers to 2700 hits, 1600 runs scored 1000 RBI not to mention likely improving on his career percentage numbers as he lost his age 24 -26 seasons. He was top 10 in MVP voting 5 consecutive years when he got back and 8 of 11 total. So not too crazy to think it cost him 2 or 3 MVP caliber seasons.
