FS: Rare 1889 Stockton California League season ticket/pass. The Stockton club played their games at Banner Island Park. 1889 players included major leaguers Patsy Cahill, Hi Ebright, Norm Baker and George Harper, and at various points in the season both Charlie Sweeney and George Van Haltren provided pitching.
You could also say this season pass is a ticket to Mudville, as Stockton/Banner Island Grounds is regarded as the possible inspiration for Ernest Thayer's 1888 poem "Casey at the Bat". On the event of Patsy Cahill's death in 1901, newspaper articles often cited him to be the inspiration for Casey.
A fascinating piece of baseball history.
