Default It's silly, but what was happening that day??

At the bottom left corner of the main page, there is the "What's Going On?" section that I am sure 99.9% of members never even look at. But whenever I see it, I can't help but wonder about the little nugget of information it has contained for over seven and a half years:

"Most users ever online was 8,305, 01-17-2016 at 07:06 PM." (Arrows added below for emphasis.)

Does anyone have any idea what in high heck drove so many people to the site on that particular day and time???? That's over three times as many visitors as when I took the screenshot today (2602).

If you have a supposition, do tell! And wild theories, speculations and conjectures are not only accepted, but expected!!!

What was going on January 17, 2016 at 7:06 PM that drove such a swarm of people to a baseball card collectors site???

Spelling "Yastrzemski" correctly without needing to look it up since the 1980s.
