My first question was, did Vermont even have baseball teams in the late 1860s/1870s? And it turns out it had at least 100:

And it turns out that a few of them were named the "Star Club." I'll nominate the White Star Club of Saxtons River as a likely candidate.

And it turns out that there were a lot of "Star Clubs" in that era? Someone here will know more about baseball team names of the period. I see that one of Brooklyn's early teams was the Star club.
