If you're doing some Black Friday shopping today on Amazon, please consider adding one of my four baseball history books. While the topics mainly deal with Pittsburgh Pirates history, there's a little bit for everyone.
The first book looks at the worst team in franchise history, giving you a day-by-day look for the 1890s Alleghenys, with plenty of Old Judge subjects mentioned. The team is covered daily from the first day of Spring Training through a postseason barnstorming tour.
The second book is the bio of Dots Miller. It covers his career in depth, with bio info for each of his off-seasons as well. This was my favorite to write because I'm from the same hometown, plus we have relatives in common.
The third and fourth books are a Moonlight Graham tribute (20 players who played just one big league game) and the guys who wish they got the chance that Graham did, at least during their time with the Pirates. All 13 players were with the team during the regular season and never got into a game. These two books are shorter, which is reflected in the price.
