Dan's book has been the bible for collectors for probably 25 years. And has been updated regularly. Just top notch and he was the mentor for all of us related to this set (and other Post Cereal sets). He can be reached at
mulemandan2020@gmail.com.
Pretty certain Dave's book will be comparable. He's a longtime expert on this set and knows his stuff. His book will include good detail on all the Post and Jell-O sets of the era. He has an email related to the book, but I cannot find it here. His regular email is
ltcolworley@mind-spring.com.
If you want a quick summary ... 200 cards in the set with 20 of the players printed on multiple box panel. Each of a player's extra panel appearance creates a variation as those are fairly easily spotted in terms of differences. 18 of the players were printed on two different cereal panels (Howard, Ford, Blanchard, Arroyo, Cash, Colavito, Lary, Gentile, Koufax, Pinson, Robinson, Jay, Cepeda, Mays, Mathews, Aaron, Clemente, Banks. Mantle and Maris were printed on 3 different cereal panels.
What Dan's book does, and pretty certain Dave's book will, is to provide detailed information on how to tell which variation (and cereal) you might have. Also just a ton of information (including pictures) about the set itself ... for example which cards are toughies and why. And a general ranking of toughness. Plus much, much, much more.
