New Member: Q about Caramel Babe Ruth 1932
Hi all,
Freshly minted new member here. CEO of tech startup, specializing in AR/VR/XR and linking physical to digital. Owned a comic book store a really long time ago (comics, TCGs, RPGs, toys, etc.). However, I know next to zero about sports cards (for now).
Looking for some advice. One of the guys on my Board mentioned he had a "bunch of old cards" and what should he do with them. One of the photos he sent me was of a #32 Babe Ruth baseball card, Caramel, 1932. Also included was #149 Babe Ruth from Big League Chewing Gum (Goudy Gum).
He is not sure if these are real, original, reprints, or fakes.
I did a little looking around on EBay and whatnot, and my first question is about the corners of the Caramel card. From what I can tell these cards were originally produced with square corners, not rounded, but it is unclear if the rounded corners in his card are due to trimming or natural wear over time. does anyone have an opinion this from the attached image?
I haven't had a chance to eyeball these in person (I'm east coast, he is west coast), so I can't speak to the card thickness, and I haven't had a chance to look closely at the printing and ink patterns either.
He isn't sure he wants to spend money to get them officially graded without first having a sense of whether or not these are original, reprints, or fakes first.
Any advice or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks!
