Glad your past it. it took me a good 10+ years to recover from mine but came back with a vengeance. My card collection saved me back then and now is a big source of pride and my wife is supportive. She knows it only benefits her in the long run,
When I got back into it in 2006 or so, it was the "less is more" mentality. Cards I always wanted but didn't have or couldnt afford were on the list. Some of them just now being checked off the list. Everyone finds their sweet spot. You'll find yours. Welcome and good luck on your journey.
