This 1955 Topps 3rd Series slit isn't etched in stone but I am fairly confident it is correct, if anyone has a scan of a contradicting miscut please post it. Similar to the 1955 Topps 2nd Series layout each row is nearly in alphabetical order with a few exceptions. The cards in the tenth and final column were apparently added late in the stage and four of the five players had not played a single major league game before 1955, Roberto Clemente, Gene Freese, Jim Owens, Gale Wade, and the fifth player played in one game for the Cubs in 1948, Tony Jacobs. The other two players that aren't in alphabetical order are Billy Consolo and Chuck Tanner. Tanner had not played a major league game before 1955 but Consolo did play nearly 150 games for the Red Sox in 1953 and 1954. I speculate that Consolo replaced a player that Topps couldn't sign with a last name alphabetically between Delsing and Lollar and Tanner replaced a player that Topps couldn't sign with a last name alphabetically between Casagrande and Johnson. I was surprised that both cards each of Baumholtz, Pearce, Perkowski, and Silvera were in alphabetical order, I figured one of each would be placed in the spots of the missing four numbers, 175, 186, 203, 209.
