Turkey Stearnes had an insane batting stance, a lefty, he hit in an open stance which was super rare then, facing the pitcher and poking his right heel in the bucket with his big toe pointing up to the sky, extending his arms straight over the plate and angling the knob towards the catcher and the top at the pitcher. It worked for him, he was the Negro League leader in homers (186) and enshrined in Cooperstown with a .348 batting average.
