I still buy a few raw cards, depending, but most cards I buy are slabs and I buy the card , not the grader. I’m building the 1949 Leaf baseball set right now and I prefer ( as with my CJ’s and T206’s) SGC Slabs over any. The cards look great in them , esp if the cards have vibrant colors.
Know all the various opinions and you tube topics of SGC going under, what is PSA doing to it now , on and on, ad nauseam, I have always bought the card, raw, slabbed, pinhole, you name it…..if it looks good to me ( Eye or My Appeal) and fits the various threads of my collecting and the price is in my collecting zone…..I buy it. I would not change an SGC card that I already have in hand to any other grader, hence, the above problem doesn’t exist for me. I know a lot of folks want to swap all their SGC slabs to PSA……and good for them, that is what is important to them. I know future value plays a big part of that desire( I’m not a Rube), but were it me, I’d just collect the cards, get the best looking, nicest you can afford , build a great collection and, the most important part……HAVE FUN….NO STRESS( well , until someone beats you out of a card at an auction that you were dying to own) . Other than that , enjoy the best hobby on earth!
