None. It's a zero-sum game. An equal amount of millions or billions have been made by people lucky enough to not to get stuck with the "hot potato."

I totally get your point, though.

I think people throw money at breaks because there's a wide-reaching epidemic of gambling addiction in the U.S. these days. Possibly other countries, too.
