Shill bidding is not going away. The reality is that you're just going to have to accept it if you want to play. It doesn't make it right, but is your annoyance going to stop the problem?
Life presents far too many other headaches to get so worked up over shill bidding. I need less cause for aggravation in my life, how about you?
Just treat any auction as if your max bid was tantamount to your max offer. If you think you might be tempted to bid more on impulse, simply don't follow along with the auction in live time. Set your snipe, forget it, and deal with other aspects of life. If you get it for less than your full bid amount, good for you! If you have to pay the full amount, so what?
