Actually, auction results are never the true value of an item. Auction houses set estimates based on what they think they can safely move the item for so they don’t lose money, not what the item is actually worth to the right buyer. A perfect example is the unsigned on-deck circle someone mentioned it originally sold for $18,000, but when an auction house ran it, it hammered for about $3,050. That’s a massive gap.
